Born and raised in Orange County, Jason D. Cohn remained in Southern California to attend the prestigious Entrepreneur Program at the University of Southern California’s (USC) Marshall School of Business. While at USC, he was an active member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, where he formed a lasting friendship with fellow fraternity brother Saar Swartzon.

After graduating from USC in 1994, Jason chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue a legal career. He attended Whittier Law School, staying in Los Angeles to be close to his late aunt as she battled brain cancer. As a law student, Jason excelled academically, regularly earning a place on the Dean’s List while serving on the Whittier Law Review and the Moot Court Honors Board. In 1997, he graduated cum laude and returned to Orange County to begin his legal career.

Jason initially practiced as a business litigator before transitioning to personal injury defense at a distinguished Newport Beach law firm. However, by 2003, he had grown frustrated with the way insurance companies treated injured individuals without legal representation. Determined to make a difference, he shifted his focus to representing injury victims and founded his own practice in his late father’s office.

Since then, Jason has represented and advocated for hundreds of clients in personal injury matters. He is admitted to practice in all California state courts, as well as the U.S. District Courts for most federal districts in California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In addition to his legal practice, Jason has served as a temporary judge in the Los Angeles County court system, was an adjunct professor at Whittier Law School, and has been a guest alumni lecturer at USC and for the State Bar of California.

In 2008, Jason partnered with longtime friend and colleague Saar Swartzon to establish Cohn & Swartzon LLP, continuing his commitment to client advocacy and legal excellence.

In 2003, Jason Cohn experienced a profound personal loss when his father, a respected attorney, passed away. At the time, Jason had grown frustrated with how insurance companies treated individuals navigating personal injury claims without legal representation. Determined to make a difference, he transformed his grief into purpose—opening his own practice in his late father’s office and dedicating his career to representing the injured.

Referral came from my insurance agent who has known Saar for years. Communication with Saar and his team was timely.  Expectations and fees were clearly stated.  The negligent driver's insurance company proposed an unsatisfactory (tiny) settlement for pain and suffering.  Saar took various actions and raised the settlement so my portion was 10x the original proposal, after his fees.  I was pleased with the outcome. After being in a car collision that resulted in a total loss of the vehicle, we got in contact with Saar and his team. It took about 2 years for the settlement to come through, but it was well worth it. While that may seem like a long time, our lives moved on right after the accident, and it was easy to trust the rest in the legal team's hands. They even sent out an investigator when the dashcam on our car was unretrievable. They were communicative throughout the process, even to let us know that we had to wait and what we were waiting for.
